In 2024, we witnessed a major breakthrough that marked a turning point in the history of indigenous communities. For a long time, a deeply rooted myth persisted: the belief that no matter how hard they tried, an indigenous person could never access a position in the public service or hold significant responsibilities.
Today, thanks to the invaluable support of the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights, and Indigenous Peoples, and particularly through the action of the Directorate General for Indigenous Peoples, this myth has been shattered.
We are proud to announce that four of our graduating students have been integrated into the public service:
- Paul and Idris have joined the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
- Divin has been assigned to the Ministry of the Interior.
- Habib has joined the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights, and Indigenous Peoples.
This integration represents much more than just an individual accomplishment. It has had a profound and lasting impact on indigenous communities, inspiring a sense of hope and possibility. Now, young indigenous people can dream of a future where their efforts will be recognized and rewarded.
These successes act as catalysts, motivating children to persevere in their studies, with the belief that a better future is possible.
This milestone also symbolizes progress toward the social and professional inclusion of indigenous people, promoting their representation in decision-making spheres. Espace Opoko will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen these achievements and provide indigenous children with the tools they need to realize their ambitions.
