We work for a people who have been marginalized and stigmatized for centuries. Even when care is provided by an NGO, people refuse to rent their houses to indigenous students. Every year the number of indigenous high school students increases in the area and we are faced with a housing problem.
That is why we bought a piece of land in the town of Sibiti to build housing for the indigenous high school students. These accommodations will be composed of two buildings with three apartments each, and a meeting room to allow the indigenous students to take some online training with the world’s leading universities.
Due to the challenge of raising all the necessary funds, the work will be done in stages to allow us to move forward little by little depending on what we manage to raise per month.
We will start with the construction of a well to allow us to have water on the spot for the construction. Then we will start the foundation of the first building.
The funds needed to start the work are as follows
– Construction of the well: 700$
– Earthwork and construction of the foundations of the first building and the toilets: $4,500
Information on the continuation of the activities will be updated continuously.
The overall cost of the work is $95,000.
When we started in 2012, many indigenous communities had never had children in high school. The indigenous community of Bambama had its first high school students in history thanks to our project.
Today, we have a total of 9 high school students, 2 students in a training school, 4 university students and about 50 children ready to go to high school. This construction will allow us to give several generations of indigenous children the opportunity to attend high school.
You can make a donation to help us complete this project. You can also share the information with your friends and colleagues.
Let’s give indigenous children an equal opportunity to succeed.
